What are event intelligence solutions?
As technology evolves, so does the language we use to describe it. Not surprisingly, IT operations have evolved dramatically since 2016. Given these changes and enhancements in artificial intelligence, the industry is overdue for an updated definition of AIOps platforms. AIOps isn’t going away, but we are changing some ways we talk about it.
In the Gartner® Hype Cycle™ for ITSM, 2024, Gartner announced new phrasing to describe the technology used in event management:
“[The] AIOps platforms profile was renamed to ‘event intelligence solutions,’ which applies AI and machine learning (AI/ML) and data analytics at the event management level to help optimize the overall IT event management process.”
What does the shift to event intelligence solutions mean?
Even as the market evolves, naming changes, and we see increasing convergence of ITSM and AIOps, the ITOps stack is improving for all the teams involved.
We believe the change in terminology made by Gartner validates positive change. Regardless of the name, the value that the technology — whether you call it AIOps or event-intelligence solutions — provides remains the same or is improving.
Using the BigPanda platform, global communications company Zayo filtered out 99.991% of redundant, low-quality alert noise. Doing so allowed Zayo to reduce ticket volume by 20% and create higher-quality alerts with a 95% average enrichment rate.
What’s next for event intelligence solutions and AIOps?
BigPanda is hyper-focused on innovation, enhancing our platform to support your event intelligence needs. Our priority is to help you transform incident management through automation, allowing you to move away from manual, reactive, and unscalable operations.
An example of this innovation is our ITSM copilot, BigPanda Biggy. Biggy transforms incident management. With it, you can uncover knowledge trapped in silos and gain self-service access to past incidents, resolutions, and team engagements. It also identifies which of your monitoring tools provide value, helping you reduce costs and complexity. Learn more about Biggy.
What’s next?
As AIOps matures and continues to integrate with ITSM, expect definitions of these platforms to evolve as they encompass a broader range of capabilities for intelligent and automated service management.
“Don’t wait to start your AIOps journey once you are overwhelmed with alerts. Start early to get a single pane of glass to understand which monitoring tools you really need.”
